Black Hat Sessions VIII: Hacking the Cloud

Tuesday April 27 2010

This 8th Black Hat Sessions is all about “Hacking the Cloud” and is organized by Array Seminars and Madison Gurkha.

At the end of the last century Sun Microsystems already used the slogan: “The network is the computer”. Back then it wasn’t practically applicable and a visionary statement. Right now, in 2010, it seems to have become reality. After Application Service Providing (ASP) and SaaS (Software as a Service), we’re now talking about “The Cloud”. Through the cloud you can create processor capacity, external memory and rent software, even for the desktop. This creates IT flexibility, but is it safe? The speakers during these Black Hats Sessions will talk about the risks of Cloud Computing. Hence: “Hacking the Cloud”.

Again we have been able to provide some interesting speakers this year. Arnoud Engelfriet of ICTRecht will, once again, share his ideas about the legal aspects of Cloud Computing with us. Besides legal issues, there are technical risks. And who is better informed about applications then the people from OWASP? Ralph Moonen of ITSX looks at the cloud from a different perspective: How can cyber criminals use the Cloud to execute their sinister plans? Last but not least, Ian de Villiers of the South African SensePost Research Labs will talk about “Clobbering the Cloud”. What are the problems with Cloud Computing when we’re talking about privacy and security?

Interesting for you?
This seminar is organized for system, network and applications managers, security officers, internal auditors, management and everybody who’s interested. After this seminar you’ll be able to weigh the opportunities of Cloud Computing against the risks.
